Sunce Winery & Vineyard, Winemaker’s Reserve Zora’s Estate Pinot Noir 2004, Russian River Valley, California
Tasting Note: An aged pinot noir that still reveals vibrant, slightly-restrained red fruit.
Medium-intensity ruby in color with some garnet around the edges, this wine has an aromatic nose of strawberry, red cherry, hibiscus, dried cranberry, forest floor, violet petal and red plum.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied pinot noir is creamy in texture with medium-intensity, red-fruit flavors suggested on the nose with some additional notes of dried raspberry.
The wine is medium in acidity with ripe, supple, medium tannin and a medium-plus finish.
There is balance between the fruit and tannin structure.
The pinot noir is very good in quality because of the varietal typicity and balance of flavors.
Bottle Note: Suncé is a family winery located in the Russian River Valley appellation of Sonoma County. We specialize in small artisan lots of varietal wine and classic blends. “To find eternity in a grain of sand or in a drop of wine.” This release marks Janae & Frane Franicevic’s first unveiling of their estate planted and grown pinot noir-appropriately named after their eldest daughter Zora. Cassis and plum fruit essence abound while fennel and all-spice add depth and tradition. The finish is gentle yet long, with toasted silk and subtle earth notes. Only 480 cases made.
