Symington Family Estates, Quinta Da Fonte Souto Branco 2019, Alentejo, Portugal

Tasting Note: A substantial, Alentejo white blend that offers the lightest touch of oak paired with orchard and tropical fruit in an eminently-pleasing style.

Medium-intensity lemon in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of pineapple, peach stone fruit, papaya, lime zest and blossom.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus-to-full-bodied white blend has medium-plus-intensity, summer-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium-minus acidity and completing with a slightly-toasty, medium-plus finish.

The wine is buttery in texture with the oak lending complexity throughout the length of the taste while remaining respectfully in the undercurrent.

Move over white Bordeaux!

Bottle Note: Lying on the slopes of the São Mamede range near Portalegre at an attitude of 1,600 feet, Quinta da Fonte Souto benefits from cooler, more humid conditions than the hot Alentejo plain. The wines express freshness and elegance provided by the altitude, as well as structure and complexity, which result from mature, low-yielding vines.
