Tyrrell’s, Single Vineyard Stevens Semillon 2014, Hunter Valley, New South Wales, Australia

Tasting Note: A semillon with green fruit that is an able counterpoint to an acid structure which resolves with balance on your palate.

Medium-intensity lemon in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of green apple, orange-and-lemon zest, quince and white blossom.

On the palate the dry, full-bodied semillon has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by racy, high acidity and a restrained, tart character running through to the long finish.

The wine has concentration, intensity and persistence.

Yum!

Bottle Note: Our single vineyards celebrate the greatest vineyard sites of the Hunter Valley. The microclimate of each vineyard produces a wine which is unique and shows a true sense of place. The Stevens family’s Glen Oak vineyard is the southern most of our semillon vineyards and features a combination of light sand and red clay soils with its oldest plantings dating back to 1911. 2014 was a strong semillon vintage in the Hunter Valley that was one of the earliest on record. The semillons are characterized by a generous citrus fruit core with a soft acid profile and impeccable length. This wine was fermented and matured in stainless steel and bottled in July 2014.
