Bodegas Caudalia, O Paal Syrah 2001, Navarra, Spain
Tasting Note: A fruit-forward, full-bodied syrah with round, black-fruit flavors that offers more rotundness than precision.
Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, pronounced-intensity nose of black currant, kirsch, raspberry, bramble, black cherry and blackberry with that wild character one also gets from Northern-Rhone syrah.
On the palate the dry, full-bodied syrah is concentrated with medium-plus-intensity, predominately-black-fruit flavors suggested on the nose support by medium-minus acidity and smooth, ripe, medium tannin.
There is some midpalate complexity and varietal typicity.
Could tackle a steak, grilled meats and more.
Bottle Note: Syrah 100%.
