Domaine Bousquet Cabernet Franc 2020 – A Developing Story in a Glass

Domaine Bousquet, Cabernet Franc 2020, Gualtallary, Mendoza, Argentina, Wine Casual

Tasting Note: Cabernet franc from Argentina is coming into its own, and if you want to experience an organically-grown version of a developing story start with this bottle.

Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of blueberry, blackberry, rhubarb, black raspberry and dried violet petal.

On the palate the dry, full-bodied cabernet franc, has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by slightly-grippy, medium-plus tannins ultimately completing with a black-fruit-led, long finish.

This bottle can of course pair with meats, but it also pairs well with dishes with cheeses like the tarte flambe I’m enjoying with it tonight.

Bottle Note: Gaia, the Greek goddess of the earth, has been the Bousquet family’s inspiration since founding our winery in 1997 when we pioneered and cleared virgin land in the high reaches of Tupungato’s Gualtallary district. From the start, our Gaia wines have been crafted with a French winemaking sensibility and made from 100% organic fruit grown at 1,200m/4,000ft altitude.
