Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard, Chardonnay 2014, Seneca Lake, Finger Lakes, New York
Tasting Note: An even-keeled chardonnay with some mid-palate complexity that makes an impact without needing to be ostentatious about what it is – a solid cool climate chardonnay with a little something extra.
Golden in color this chardonnay has a nose of pineapple, peach stone fruit, golden apple and overripe pear with some vanilla hints.
On the palate the medium-plus bodied, medium acidity, dry white presents as an integrated blend of green and tropical fruit expressing a mix of tart acidity as well as ripeness.
This is the beauty of indigenous-yeast fermented wines to add an extra layer of understated but impressive “umph.”
Bottle Note: Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard combines Old World tradition with New World innovation, hand-crafting elegant, well-balanced wines. Our ecologically conscious viticulture highlights the distinct qualities of our premier vineyard sites. A combination of both stainless steel and oak barrel fermentation keeps this chardonnay fresh with a round-mouth feel. A subtle bouquet of citrus leads to an invigorating palate with a refined clean finish. Vineyard site: Magdalena 75%, HJW 25%.
