Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard, Dry Gewürztraminer 2013, Seneca Lake, New York
Tasting Note: Another well-constructed, expectations-surpassing gem from Hermann Wiemer’s winemaker Fred Merwath.
This golden-colored riesling has an aromatic nose of peach, apricot, red apple, pineapple and lemon.
On the palate the full-bodied dry white is medium-plus in acidity with harmonious balance between the sugar and acid.
Like lazy 5:00 p.m.-summer sunshine in your glass this gewürtz has a long, pleasing finish with a combination of pleasing aromas.
If you like gewürztraminer this one is a winner; if you’ve never tried a gewürtz this is the one to try to experience the best of what the grape varietal has to offer — anywhere.
