Lamoreaux Landing, Gewürztraminer 2014, Finger Lakes, New York
Tasting Note: A smooth, well-made gewürztraminer with a lot going for it.
This lemon-colored, highly-aromatic gewürztraminer is full with lychee, nectarine and pear on the nose.
The strong aromatics suggest equally-strong body on the palate; however the wine is medium-bodied and dry with medium-plus acidity leaving a refreshing long finish that concentrates on the back of your tongue with lemon citrus zest.
This wine fits on the elegant end of the gewürztraminer spectrum and is an expression of the grape I’d love to see done more often.
Bottle Note: Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars specializes in making small batch handcrafted wines from estate grown sustainable vineyards in the Finger Lakes. Cold-soaked on the grapes skins to extract the perfect amount of character, this dry gewürztraminer focuses on the rich texture of the grape and showcases the highly aromatic nature of the varietal.
