Mary Taylor, Filipe Ferreira Douro 2016, Portugal
Tasting Note: A solid Douro red blend with a good foundation of black fruit and flavor depth.
Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of blackberry, black plum, crushed raspberry, red currant and black cherry.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied red blend has medium-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and ripe, soft, medium-plus tannin completing with a medium-plus finish.
The wine is mostly straightforward with moments of complexity percolating in the midpalate.
A hearty red blend.
Bottle Note: Portugal’s storied Douro Valley- a dramatic stretch of cliffside vineyards which hover over the famous Douro River – has been a center of the global wine trade for centuries. This complex and deep red wine combines the area’s wealth of native grapes with the profound minerality of black schist soil.
