Morgenhof Estate, Cabernet Franc 2013, Simonsberg – Stellenbosch, South Africa
Tasting Note: This cabernet franc is straightforward in profile and presents the basic form of the grape with some flavor concentration but lacking much mid-palate complexity.
Deep-intensity ruby in color, this wine has a nose of black plum and red cherry.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied cabernet franc has soft, medium tannin.
Bottle Note: Origin – Simonsberg-Stellenbosch. Character – Expressive wine with aromas of cassis, mulberries, pencil shavings and cigar box. Supported by fine-grained tannins with an elegant finish. Cellaring – Recommended aging for a further 10 years from vintage. Serving – Best served with venison, charcuterie or tapas. Style – A full-bodied red wine.
