Nik Weis, Urban Riesling 2016, Mosel, Germany
Tasting Note: Some rieslings are innocuous; this riesling it is not.
It jumps out of your glass, flexes its muscle, and then dones wire-framed glasses to let you know it’s smart and multi-layered.
Pale-intensity gold in color this wine has an aromatic nose of green apple, lychee, green pear, pineapple and lime citrus.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus bodied wine echoes the ripe green and tropical fruit flavors suggested on the nose lifted by fleshy, high acidity.
There is balance between the fruit and acidity as well as mid-palate complexity and depth of flavor.
After tasting several vintages of this riesling over the years (2015), this wine presents consistent quality with impressive affordability.
Bottle Note: A fresh & juicy riesling with an elegant character grown in the Mosel Valley. It is the perfect match with Asian dishes such as Indian curries, mildly spicy fish & poultry.
