Pierre Jacques Druet, Vaumoreau Bourgueil 1995, Loire, France
Tasting Note: An aged Bourgueil from a vintage absent any green notes with ripe fruit and lovely, classic aromatics.
Ruby-to-garnet in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of red plum, fig, raspberry preserve, dry hay, baked red cherry, cedar and forest floor.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied Bourgueil has medium-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and smooth, medium tannin.
There are some chalky elements along the midpalate that are in balance with the fruit.
Grown-up cabernet franc.
