Pierre Sparr, Mambourg Pinot Gris 2016, Alsace Grand Cru, France
Tasting Note: An impressive Alsace grand cru pinot gris that is filled with late-summer fruit in a reserved, aged and complex style.
Medium-intensity lemon in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of green pear, orange-and-lime zest, white peach, golden apple, lychee and blossom.
On the palate the slightly-off-dry pinot gris sings with medium-plus-intensity, ripe, golden fruit supported by medium acidity and completing with a long finish.
The wine is slightly-creamy in texture yet remains bright.
Alsace may very well make some of the best pinot gris on the planet, and this bottle proves that point.
