Pisano, Cisplatino, Pequeña Reserva Tannat & Merlot 2013, Progreso, Uruguay
Tasting Note: An easy-drinking red blend from Uruguay.
Deep ruby in color this wine has an aromatic nose of blackberry, blueberry, red currant and black cherry.
On the palate the dry, medium bodied, tannat-merlot red blend displays muted black fruit on the attack followed by medium-tannin that has a somewhat grippy texture beginning mid-plate.
The wine is somewhat round at moments and is an easy drinking red.
The torrontés from this producer is absolutely standout (one of the best versions of the grape actually) however this red blend is middle of pack.
Bottle Note: 60% Tannat, 40% Merlot. Competitive with the best wine growing regions of the Southern Hemisphere, Uruguay is nestled between the latitudes of 30° and 35° parallel. Resting on the Atlantic Ocean and the Rio de La Plata, the cool maritime climate makes for a slow and gradual ripening period which encourages the elegance and finesse of our wines.
