Pyramids Road, Shiraz 2017, Granite Belt, Queensland, Australia
Tasting Note: A reserved shiraz with well-integrated tannin and balance between the fruit and tannin structure.
Medium-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of cranberry, black cherry, raspberry puree, blackberry and blossom.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied shiraz is soft and supple in texture with medium-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and fine, medium tannin.
Pyramids Road’s winemaker, Warren Smith, cites this wine as a good example of the Granite-Belt shiraz style.
The grapes for this wine were grown on the oldest shiraz vines in the Granite Belt.
Bottle Note: This wine is hand plunged in open fermenters before being basket pressed and racked into barrels to complete the malolactic fermentation. An elegant shiraz showing distinct varietal dark plum and spice characters with 12 months of maturation in a mix of American and French oak. This is real handmade wine. From pruning to picking, crushing, basket pressing, bottling and labeling – our hand prints are all over this wine. This wine will show best decanted. Enjoy! Pyramids Road runs through Girraween National Park in southeast Queensland’s Granite Belt. The park features a range of natural wonders including two huge granite outcrops known as “The Pyramids.”
