Shingleback, Black Bubbles Sparkling Shiraz, McLaren Vale, Australia
Tasting Note: Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has a medium-plus-intensity nose of blackberry, black currant, black cherry, black plum, violet and raspberry compote.
On the palate the off-dry, full-bodied sparkling shiraz is creamy in texture and delivers the ripe, medium-plus-intensity black fruit flavors suggested on the nose.
The wine is mostly straightforward even as there are a mix of flavors which ultimately complete with a medium-plus finish.
The wine is medium-plus in acidity, medium-plus in alcohol and is good quality because of the flavor concentration, but it lacks complexity and a moderately-enduring mousse to qualify as very good.
Bottle Note: Sparkling Shiraz is a truly Australian style of wine that is often enjoyed at celebrations or as a pre-dinner aperitif. Using premium estate fruit from McLaren Vale, Shingleback Black Bubbles Sparkling Shiraz is a perfumed, vibrant and luscious compote of dark berry fruits with texture and an effervescence that dances on the tongue and leaps from the glass. “Black Bubbles” – guaranteed to turn a gathering into a party. John Davey – winemaker.
