Silver Thread Blackbird 2013 – Below Expectations

Silver Thread, Blackbird 2013, Finger Lakes, New York, Wine Casual

Silver Thread, Blackbird 2013, Finger Lakes, New York

Tasting Note: Deep-intensity ruby in color this wine has an aromatic nose of violet, black plum, green pepper and blueberry with faint hints of kirsch.

On the palate the dry, medium-bodied wine has a slight capsium note running throughout the length of the taste.

There is a disconnect between the nose and the flavors on your palate with violet and distinctive cabernet franc notes dropping out upon first encounter with your tongue.

A disconnect between smell and taste is not unknown in the wine world as it notably and favorably demonstrated with torrontés in Argentina.

But this isn’t Argentina; it’s the New York Finger Lakes and more is expected and delivered elsewhere in the region.

Bottle Note: Silver Thread Vineyard creates expressive, age-worthy wines in harmony with nature. Our boutique winery and sustainability-managed vineyard are located on the east side of Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes region of New York. The turtle image on our label is an earth symbol to the Iroquois people and reminds us to care for the land and water that gives us the gift of wine. Cabernet Franc 73%, Merlot 13%, Cabernet Sauvignon 11%.
