Sunce Winery & Vineyard, Franicevic Series Meritage 2019, California, Wine Casual

Sunce Winery & Vineyard, Franicevic Series Meritage 2019, California

Tasting Note: A meritage symphony of black-fruit in your glass.

Deep-intensity ruby in color, this wine has a medium-intensity nose of blackberry, black plum, raspberry, black cherry, rosehip, dried cranberry and hibiscus.

On the palate the dry, full-bodied meritage has medium-plus-intensity, black-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and ripe, medium-plus-tannin ultimately completing with black-plum-infused, medium-plus finish.

The wine is layered, complex and engages the senses.

Meritage to enjoy when the weather is chilly outdoors and when its warm inside.

Bottle Note: Sunce is a family winery located in the Russian River Valley appellation of Sonoma County – specializing in small artisan lots of vineyard designated varietal wine and classic blends. Frane’s 2019 Reserve Meritage is boasting all five Bordeaux varietals: 25% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, 12.5% Malbec, and 12.5% Petit Verdot. Each vineyard block contributes its unique character; the Merlot from Foppiano’s Dry Creek Valley vineyard adds plummy plushness, the Sonoma Valley Cab from Atwood Ranch establishes a firm, yet complex structure, the Franc from La Prenda’s Calistoga road vineyard brings good fruits and minerality, from Clarksburg, the Malbec asserts itself with a medley of chiles and spice, while the Petit Verdot enlivens and extends the finish with a core of good earth and leather. This classic Meritage pairs well with rich meat dishes, like: Osso Buco, Filet Mignon and Beef Bourguignon. Frane Franicevic, Winemaker. Only 16 barrels made.
