Viña Aquitania, Lazuli Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, Maipo Valley, Chile
Tasting Note: A silky, velvet-glove of a cabernet sauvignon from Chile’s Maipo Valley.
Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of blackberry, blueberry, black currant, cassis, black cherry and fig.
On the palate the dry, full-bodied cabernet sauvignon has medium-intensity, black-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium-minus acidity and ripe, medium-plus tannin ultimately completing with a medium-plus finish.
The wine is creamy and buttery in texture and has a balanced fruit and tannin structure.
A cabernet sauvignon to compliment rather than attack a steak.
Bottle Note: Named after Lapis Lazuli, the precious blue gemstone of Chile, this richly structured cabernet sauvignon is a harmonious and smooth wine produced by Viña Aquitania, a partnership of four distinguished winemaker vineyard owners. Paul Pontallier and Bruno Prats of Bordeaux, Ghislain de Montgolfier of Champagne and Felipe de Solminihac, a renowned oenologist in Chile. Their goal is to produce limited quantities of Chilean wine inspired by Bordeaux tradition.
