Clearview Vineyard, Merlot 2013, New York
Tasting Note: A supple, aged, New York merlot that has mellowed out in a good way over time.
Medium-intensity ruby in color with a ring of garnet around the edges, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of red plum, cinnamon baking spice, pureed raspberry, strawberry, rosehip and black cherry.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied merlot has medium-intensity, red-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported my medium acidity and ripe, medium tannin.
The wine has a velvety texture that complements the complexity in the midpalate ultimately completing with a medium-plus finish.
A well-made merlot.
