Quinta Das Carvalhas, Reserva 2017, Douro, Portugal
Tasting Note: The sort of concentrated, ripe, black-fruit blend that is the perfect cold-weather comfort wine and also a wine to enjoy with grilled meats.
Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of black plum, red cherry, blackberry, bramble, raspberry puree, clove baking spice and violet with hints of fig.
On the palate the dry, full-bodied red blend has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and ripe, slightly-grippy, medium-plus tannin.
The wine is creamy in texture with midpalate complexity that completes with a medium-plush finish.
The sort of wine that will make you search out reds from Portugal whenever you visit the wine store.
