Thorn-Clarke, Terra Barossa Winemaker’s Selection Shiraz 2015, Barossa, Australia
Tasting Note: A substantial Shiraz with personality, flavor concentration, and loads of black fruit.
Deep-intensity ruby in color this wine has pronounced aromas of raspberry, bramble, blueberry, blackberry, black pepper, charred wood and vanilla and clove baking spice.
On the palate, the dry, full-bodied wine forwards ripe, concentrated black fruit with black pepper and spice as well as soft, ripe, high tannin and medium acidity.
There is complexity and flavor intensity.
In addition to not being a push over in body, this wine comes in a 1L size (a size I’m beginning to enjoy more and more from European producers which means you can get a couple of extra glasses out of your bottle. Score!)
Bottle Note: Thorn-Clarke Wine is a result of six generations of Barossa grape growing heritage. Family owned and estate grown, our wines are matured from the vineyard to the bottle, giving us complete control over quality. Our winemaker has specially selected this parcel of shiraz as typically Barossa. The palate is rich and full with spicy plums and creamy oak. The tannins are fine and give the wine great length of flavor and a superb smooth mouth feel. This wine is perfect with foods with richness and flavor such as a meat based pasta dishes, red meats and hard cheese.
